King's College Rugby Club

Rugby Hong Kong 10s

The Hong Kong Football Club has organised and hosted the HKFC 10s from 1986, when the tournament was first held to commemorate the club’s centenary. The club had experience of staging such events, having been the original venue of the Hong Kong Sevens from 1976 to 1981.The HKFC 10s quickly grew into the world’s best 10-a-side rugby tournament, attracting top players and teams from around the globe. GFI has title sponsored the tournament each year from 2006.

ñ̳ entered the tournament for the first time in 2016. On Day 1 they won two of their three pool games and qualified for the Quarter Finals on Day 2. In a very tight match they were unlucky to be eliminated from the tournament. They so impressed the tournament organisers with the brilliant brand of rugby, sportsmanship and general presentation that they were named “Team of the Tournament” at the closing ceremony.

The Hong Kong 10s is not just about rugby for King’s – it is also an excellent opportunity for players to engage with the business and corporate world in Hong Kong where wonderful connections are made and networks are developed.

Rugby 7s

King’s Sevens is a highly successful rugby sevens program and a team who compete in tournaments across Australia. King’s Sevens looks to provide a pathway for post and present King’s College students to develop their rugby sevens skills further through high quality training and having exposure in competing on the international sevens circuit. The program consists of a 40-man squad and 2 teams.

Since its inception, the King’s sevens program has always been composed of and is run by current residents of the college. As such, it is an incredibly passionate and proudly supported area of college life, and is one which has contributed to many successes over the past 4 years.

Having been established in 2013, King’s Sevens is in their 4th year of competing in various tournaments across the south east Queensland and Northern New South Wales. King’s Sevens have two teams and enters at least one of the two into 4 or 5 tournaments each year. We have been recognized as a cohesive, ambitious and exciting team to watch and are expected to reach the semi-final round in most tournaments. As a Brisbane based residential college, we do exceptionally well in competing against international sevens clubs and development teams from countries such as Fiji, New Zealand and Germany.
